John Ward Trio
The John Ward Trio’s music has been born from John’s experience of life in an East Anglian fishing port that has seen more than its fair share of social change and decline.
After a life travelling on the road, living rough and making music, Les Woodley settled in the port to make wooden boats.
Both self-taught musicians, John and Les, accompanied by guitar, double bass and mandolin, together bring an honesty and authenticity to their performances that is home-spun and from the heart.
Add in harmonies and whistles from Scots girl, Lynne, who hails from Clydeside, plus John’s unique and show-stopping bodhran solos, and the sound is complete.
The Trio’s 3-part harmonies give a rich life to John’s critically-acclaimed songs and to the traditional repertoire. They will be singing songs from the latest CD Sargasso, and John’s original and traditional East Coast heritage music of the land and the sea.
