We’re taking a year off. See you in 2028!

Our 2026 festival filled the Walled Garden at Nowton Park, and we’re so grateful to everyone who played, volunteered, traded, helped out and came along.

There won’t be a festival in 2027 because of personal commitments. It’s a planned one-year break, not an ending – we’ll be back in 2028, and we’ll share the date as soon as it’s set.

The festival only happens because of the many people who give their time, talent and support. A huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, every artist and performer, our volunteers and stewards, traders, caterers and bar team, our suppliers, sponsors and supporters, and the team at Nowton Park.

About us

An independent folk festival in a walled garden

Bury St Edmunds Folk Festival is an independent one-day celebration of music from across the folk genre, held in the Walled Garden at Nowton Park, with live music, good food and drink, and a friendly community atmosphere.

It grew out of conversations within Bury Folk Collective in 2014 and has run every year since 2015, apart from 2020. Now fully independent, it’s led by Gavin Mitchell with Tony Phillips, Jane Reeves and Pete Reeves.

Will the festival still be at Nowton Park?

Nowton Park is our home and there are no plans to move, although we’ll always consider suitable alternatives.

We consider anything within the broad folk genre.
